Project Icarus Gold Medal


Project Icarus and GBTA Gold Medal Recognition

Project ICARUS, a GBTA Foundation initiative, has grown to be the most widely recognized and respected Corporate Sustainability/Corporate Social Responsibility program within the global business travel and meeting industry. Project ICARUS granted Starwood Hotels & Resorts the first ever supplier Gold Medal that covers the global organization. The Gold Medal is Project ICARUS' highest reward.

Clean The World      


Clean the World

The Westin Georgetown, Washington D.C works with Clean the World to accomplish a two-part mission:

  • Collect and recycle soap and shampoo products discarded each day.
  • Through the distribution of these and other donated hygiene products to impoverished people, prevent the millions of deaths caused by hygiene-related illnesses every day.

Bronze - Green Leaders - Trip Advisor2013 Certificate Of Excellence


  • One Project: One Project brings relief in the form of hygiene kits to those right in the community. The Westin Georgetown made this activity available to groups in house in order to assemble and distribute kits to shelters, missions, and disaster relief effort organizations.
  • Capitol Area Food Bank: The Westin Georgetown volunteered at the Capitol Area Food Bank in summer 2012. Capitol Area Food Bank works to give food and funds to those in need.
  • Alex’s Lemonade Stand: Host to Alex’s Lemonade Stand to raise money for childhood cancer.The Westin Georgetown helped raise $1,200.
  • Soles4Souls: The Westin Georgetown laced up for a run to benefit Soles4Souls in celebration of the global launch of the New Balance Gear Lending Program.
